Canadian Agriculture Literacy Month (CALM) connects teachers and agriculture industry volunteers to help students learn where their food comes from through real stories and hands-on experiences.

What is CALM?
CALM is a classroom-based program that includes:
• An in-class visit from a volunteer farmer or ag professional
• A hands-on agriculture activity
• An agriculture-themed book for the classroom

All visits take place during March 2026. REGISTRATION IS OPEN!

For Teachers
Register your Grades 2–4 classroom and host an ag volunteer who will share their agriculture story and engage your students.

Why teachers participate:
• Curriculum-connected, real-world learning
• Minimal prep, support and resources provided
• An engaging guest, a hands-on activity, and a book to keep

For Ag Industry Volunteers
Share your ag story with students, engage them in a hands-on activity, and help build their understanding and appreciation for agriculture and where their food comes from. We need both English and French speaking volunteers!

Why volunteer:
• Make a meaningful impact in one classroom visit
• Inspire curious students
• No teaching experience required

How It Works:
Teachers register
Volunteers register
• Classrooms are matched with volunteers. Teachers and volunteers connect to set a date and time for the classroom visit.
• Visits happen in March 2026
