About the Foundations of Manitoba Agriculture

The Foundations of Manitoba Agriculture Virtual Resource Hub is a series of interactive courses and information sheets that invite you and your students explore the different crops grown and animals raised in Manitoba.

Making the connection between food and where it comes from can lead to healthier eating choices and a better appreciation for agriculture and its role in feeding the world.

The Foundations of Manitoba Agriculture resources help students connect what they eat to the crops and animals needed to produce those foods, and ultimately, the people involved in getting food to their plate.

  • In Depth PDF is a detailed guide that provides teachers and middle and senior years students with the basic background information on each topic.
  • Summary PDF is a brightly illustrated single-page that includes bite-sized pieces of information for middle and early years students.
  • E-Learning is the interactive component that offers engaging ways for early and middle years students to learn more about the topics.

Why?

Food connects us all to agriculture. Now more than ever, young people deserve to know where their food comes from.

The Foundations of Manitoba Agriculture Virtual Resource Hub will:

Increase public awareness of the important role of agriculture in Manitoba’s economy
Build public trust for agriculture production and processing activities
Support agriculture development opportunities, such as skills development and promotion of career opportunities in the agriculture and agri-food industries

Who?

The Foundations of Manitoba Agriculture Virtual Resource Hub is for anyone who wants to learn more about agriculture in our province. The shorter fact sheets are aimed at a younger audience, while the in-depth fact sheet and eLearning modules are great for senior years students and any teacher who wants to educate themselves about agriculture. All of the resources have been reviewed by commodity groups and will be updated regularly whenever changes are required.

When?

The Foundations of Manitoba Agriculture Virtual Resource Hub will be available starting September 19, 2022 on our website, www.aitc.mb.ca.
