Winnipeg, MB – Agriculture in the Classroom – Manitoba (AITC-M) is proud to announce it has received a $20,000 grant from the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation®, through the TELUS Manitoba and Saskatchewan Community Board, in support of its flagship program, Amazing Agriculture Adventure (AAA). This generous contribution will help AITC-M continue delivering engaging, hands-on agriculture education to over 1,200 students during this year’s four-day program.
Held exclusively at the Bruce D. Campbell Farm and Food Discovery Centre, AAA invites students in Grades 3–6 and 9–12 to participate in a full-day, curriculum-connected field trip where they explore agriculture through 10 interactive stations. Topics include food production, animal care, crop science, sustainability, and career pathways in the agri-food sector — all led by knowledgeable volunteers and industry professionals.
A key feature of AAA is the integration of modern technology, helping students understand how innovation is transforming agriculture. From digital tools used in animal management to and agri-tech careers, students get a glimpse of the cutting-edge advancements shaping the future of food.
“Thanks to TELUS, we’re able to offer this one-of-a-kind program free of charge to participating schools, helping remove barriers and broaden access to meaningful ag education,” said Katharine Cherewyk, Executive Director at AITC-M. “This support allows us to spark curiosity, build knowledge, and show students that agriculture is a dynamic and essential industry full of innovation and opportunity.”
In 2025, the program expands further with two new learning stations and extended programming time, offering students even more opportunities to connect with the people, science, and technology behind the food they eat. Transportation subsidies will also be offered to ensure students from both rural and urban communities can attend.
TELUS’ investment aligns perfectly with AITC-M’s mission to build agriculture literacy and inspire the next generation of informed consumers, critical thinkers, and future ag leaders. Their support ensures the program remains accessible to students from all backgrounds and geographies.
“We believe deeply in ensuring all youth have access to transformative educational experiences that open doors to new career possibilities,” said Nimmi Kanji, Executive Director of the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation. “We’re proud to support AITC-M’s Amazing Agriculture Adventure, a program that not only enriches student learning but helps build stronger, more connected communities, while cultivating the next generation of leaders who will shape our food systems and communities."
AITC-M extends its heartfelt thanks to TELUS and the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation and invites others in the community to join in supporting youth education and agricultural awareness. Together, we are planting the seeds for a stronger, more informed, and food-secure future.
