Here are just two of the exciting new projects your generosity will support in the coming year:
- The Foundations of Manitoba Agriculture Virtual Resource
This tool is a hub where teachers and students can learn everything they need to know about the crop and livestock commodities at the heart of our industry. Each individual resource will highlight science, history, nutrition, economics, sustainability, and more!
We will begin handing this much anticipated resource to teachers next March during Canadian Agricultural Literacy Month (CALM). Each kit contains the seeds of 15 important Manitoba crops, along with a classroom book, teacher's guide, and fun classroom activities linked to curriculum in grades 3 to 6. Achieving our goal will make it possible for us to send 700 Manitoba Seed Kits to classrooms across the province and reach up to 20,000 students in the first year alone! Click here to learn more.
On top of that, we are planning to launch a new AG Careers Exploration Program, and we’ll continue to extend and enhance our vast suite of educational resources and programs aimed at delivering accurate, balanced, and current information to classrooms across Manitoba. All our resources are directly linked to course curriculum for students K-12.
In 2020 alone, 519 teachers participated in AITC-M programs, helping us reach close to 33,000 students with information on agriculture literacy. It is AITC-M's goal to increase its reach every year. Imagine how your support can help us extend this reach and Drive Discovery!
