Join Agriculture in the Classroom Canada and our provincial member organizations on the Great Canadian Farm Tour / la Grande Tournée des Fermes Canadiennes! Bring your class on 10 virtual LIVE farm tours across Canada from mid-April to late May. All grade levels and learning centres are welcome to participate, however, the tours are targeted at Grades 1-6.

LEARN about Canada’s exciting agriculture and food story! CONNECT and interact virtually with real farmers on their OWN farms, and EXPERIENCE what it’s like on a real farm in your home province!
This unique learning opportunity will inspire your students, ignite their curiosity and teach them about the important role agriculture plays in their lives, EVERYDAY!
Who: All grades welcome, but program is targeted for Grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 students

Learn about Cricket Farming in Manitoba on May 30
Join us for Manitoba's leg of the Great Canadian Farm Tour at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 30! We're headed to Ryan Steppler's farm to learn about cricket farming.
Born and raised on a mixed farm, Ryan always appreciated and valued agriculture and the importance of growing and raising food. After teaching middle school for 10 years, he decided to make a full time return to the farm and found a unique way to diversify his already-existing grain farm. The cricket farm started as a basement project of 200 crickets in hydroponics tents and has now turned into a productive operation with millions of crickets. We've discovered that crickets are extremely nutrient dense, can be added to many of the snacks and meals you’re already baking AND taste good. It didn't take long to get over the “ick factor” once we realized the nutritional value of these little guys and that our family’s diet has improved just by adding a bit of cricket powder to our meals.
