Topics & Event Dates (2023-24)
Event 1: Follow the Turkey Farmer
Join us as we tour Quentin and Theresa Wiebe's turkey farm, Timberline Farms, located just north of Winnipeg. Students will get to look behind the barn doors and learn:
- About the food, water, and shelter that turkeys need to grow so they can provide healthy meat for our tables
- The technology Quentin and Theresa use to create a habitat that meets the needs of the turkeys
- How Quentin and Theresa care for their flock at each life stage to keep turkeys healthy and comfortable
- The nutrition that turkey provides for us
Then, extend the learning in your classroom by having students work through a Canada Food Guide activity 'Turkey's Place on Your Plate', where they will learn about the Eat Well plate and how they can put together nutritious meals that include turkey as their protein.

Event 2: Follow the Soybean Farmer
Lyle Peters is excited to welcome you to his farm, Henervic Farms, out near Hanover, Manitoba! Students will learn all about soybeans, including planting, crop care, harvest, and the nutrition soybeans provide.

Event 3: Follow the Potato Farmer
We are taking students out to southern Manitoba to Hespler Farms! Farmer Wayne will teach students how he plants and cares for his potato crop and why potatoes are such a unique crop to grow!
