WINNIPEG, MB - Agriculture in the Classroom Manitoba (AITC-M) is proud to recognize the continued leadership of Manitoba Egg Farmers (MEF), who have renewed and expanded their commitment to agriculture education with a three-year investment of $105,000 supporting programming from 2026 to 2028.
MEF has been a longstanding partner of AITC-M and one of the earliest commodity groups to champion agriculture education through AITC-M in Manitoba classrooms. While commodity groups have long supported agriculture education independently, their partnership with AITC-M helps extend this work through direct relationships with educators, supporting broader reach and deeper engagement in classrooms across the province. Over the past five years, AITC-M has seen significant growth in both educator participation and student reach. MEF has steadily grown its support alongside this momentum, helping strengthen AITC-M’s ability to connect students, educators, and industry across Manitoba.
As Manitoba’s agriculture sector evolves through technological innovation, sustainability challenges, and changing workforce needs, helping young people understand modern agriculture has never been more important. AITC-M plays an important role in this effort by serving as a bridge between classrooms and the agriculture industry, bringing real-world food and farming experiences directly into learning environments across Manitoba.
“Industry leadership is essential to ensuring young people understand the importance and opportunities within agriculture,” says Katharine Cherewyk, Executive Director of Agriculture in the Classroom Manitoba. “Manitoba Egg Farmers have been leaders in this space for many years. Their growing support demonstrates a strong commitment to helping students develop the knowledge and awareness that will sustain Manitoba’s agriculture and food systems in the future.”
Through partnerships like this, AITC-M works alongside educators across Manitoba to deliver curriculum-connected resources, hands-on programs, and industry-supported learning experiences that help students explore modern agriculture in meaningful and practical ways.
This includes programming and resources that connect students to Manitoba’s egg industry, such as classroom materials like Foundations of Manitoba Agriculture – Eggs and immersive experiences like the Follow the Egg Farmer virtual farm tour. Through these opportunities, students go behind the scenes of a real egg farm, learning about hen care, modern farming technology, and how eggs are produced.
These real-world learning experiences help students better understand the people, science, and careers behind Manitoba’s egg sector, while strengthening connections between classrooms and the agriculture industry.
Today, AITC-M works with nearly 2,700 active educators across Manitoba, reaching approximately 95,000 students annually through layered learning experiences designed to create meaningful engagement over time. Across all programming, this results in nearly 398,000 learning touchpoints delivered each year, connecting classrooms directly with the people, science, technology, and careers that shape modern agriculture.
Manitoba Egg Farmers’ renewed commitment helps strengthen this essential upstream connection between education and agriculture, ensuring students across Manitoba have repeated opportunities to engage with the food system and understand the role agriculture plays in their communities and the province’s economy.
By investing in agriculture education, MEF is helping strengthen the long-term pipeline of informed citizens, future professionals, and engaged communities that will ultimately sustain Manitoba’s agriculture sector.
“Investing in agriculture education is an investment in the future of our industry. We are proud to partner with Agriculture in the Classroom - Manitoba to help students across Manitoba gain a deeper understanding of modern egg farming and the many opportunities available within agriculture,” says Catherine Kroeker-Klassen, Chair of Manitoba Egg Farmers.
